1. Introduction
SpeedCam BG ("the App") is an Android application for informational monitoring of average-speed road sections in Bulgaria. This policy describes what data is processed when you use the App, and for what purpose.
SpeedCam BG respects your privacy. The core principle is that necessary data is processed locally on your device, without creating a user account and without the App sending data to a developer-operated server.
2. Data controller
The controller of personal data processed through the App is the developer of SpeedCam BG, identified on the app's Google Play listing.

3. Location data
The App processes GPS location (approximate and/or precise), including background location in certain scenarios, in order to:
- detect entry into and exit from average-speed zones;
- calculate current and average speed;
- show nearby sections and warnings;
- support operation in standalone, overlay, and Android Auto modes.
Location is processed in real time on the device. SpeedCam BG does not upload or send your GPS coordinates to a developer-operated server.
Background location is used only when needed for continuous tracking, for example during an active zone, overlay, or Android Auto, and only if you have granted the corresponding permission.
4. Locally stored data
The following may be stored locally on the device:
- app settings (vehicle type, limits, preferences);
- temporary data from an active zone session;
- a history of results/violations, if generated by usage;
- internal flags for onboarding messages and overlay state;
- optional diagnostic logs, if enabled by you.
This data does not leave your device through SpeedCam BG, unless you explicitly share it (for example, by sending a diagnostic file).
5. Permissions
Depending on the features you use, the App may request:
- Location - to detect zones and calculate average speed;
- Background location - for tracking when the interface is not in the foreground;
- Notifications - for zone-entry alerts and service messages;
- Display over other apps - for overlay mode on top of navigation;
- Internet - mainly to load map content from Google Maps.
You can revoke permissions at any time from Android system settings. Revoking a permission may limit or stop some features.
6. Diagnostic logs
If you enable diagnostic logging from settings, the App may record a local file with technical information (for example, zone entry/exit events and calculations). The log stays on the device and is shared only if you explicitly send it.
7. Third-party services
For map display, the App uses Google Maps / Google Play Services. In this case, Google may process data under its own privacy policies.
The average-speed section data in the App is based on publicly available information and loads locally from packaged data.
When using Android Auto, Google's terms/policies for Android Auto and related services also apply.
8. Analytics and ads
SpeedCam BG does not use analytics SDKs, ad networks, or tracking identifiers for marketing purposes.
9. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided data through their device in connection with the App, please contact us.
10. Retention and deletion
Local data is stored on the device while the App is installed, or until it is deleted. You can remove it by:
- using settings within the App itself (where available);
- clearing the app's data from Android settings;
- uninstalling SpeedCam BG.
11. Your rights
Depending on applicable law (including GDPR, where it applies), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict processing, and object. Since core data is processed and stored locally on your device, you can perform most deletion actions directly from Android settings.
12. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the App or legal requirements change. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page. We recommend reviewing the policy periodically.
